Special Programs at the 2026 Kwanmukan Symposium

12 Feb by Patrick Hickey

We have two never before happenings at this year's Kwanmukan Symposium!

First, on Saturday, Randy Coleman will be there to instruct in the "Kibon Hyung" forms that GM IJ Kim developed. The forms are now identified as as Kuk Ki Hyung Il Jang and Kuk Ki Hyung E Jang. Kuk Ki means "Win Yourself". IJ Kim changed the name in the 70's to represent his style; Kuk Ki Ryu. These forms played a roll in Hanshi Anderson's development of the Kwan Mu Kata upon which the Kwon-kong Chang Kwon was developed.

On Sunday SADA HONDA will be present for a presentation of Mumon Karate as Budo Karate. Assisting him will be: PAUL KOVACS, Shihan of Mumon, 5 Dan, DOUG GILBERT Shihandai of Mumon, 4 Dan, KEN MAXWELL Shihan of Mumon, 5 Dan. Assisting the above will be Dave Resto, 2 dan, Florin Toader, Sho Dan. Please note that this is a 5 dan, not 10 dan system and 5 dan is the highest rank in this system equivalent to a 10 dan.
